['mɪlet], Kate, eigentlich Katherine Murray ['mʌrɪ], amerikanische Schriftstellerin, * Saint Paul (Minnesota) 14. 9. 1934; Studium an der University of Minnesota und in Oxford; 1961-63 Aufenthalt in Japan; Dozentin am Barnard College in New York. Ihre Studie »Sexual politics« (1970; deutsch »Sexus und Herrschaft. Die Tyrannei des Mannes in unserer Gesellschaft«) wurde zu einem der wichtigsten Bücher der neuen Frauenbewegung; des Weiteren feministische Schriften sowie zwei autobiographische Romane, »Flying« (1974; deutsch »Fliegen«) und »Sita« (1977; deutsch).
